Global Mission Project

Christina Mauntel will be participating in the ELCA's Global Mission's Young Adult International Service Program from August 2008-August 2009. Christina has been selected to serve in South Africa during the year long term of service. The programs focus on serving underrepresented populations of their respective countries. Each participant is asked by Global Missions to fund raise $4,000 dollars to help defray the cost of the trip. If you want to donate please contact Angie Schnarr at 812-634-1123. You may also put an envelope with your donation in the offering plate. Please mark envelope with South Africa Mission Trip and your envelope number or name. Global Mission raised as of June 15th is $1800. She still needs $2200. Thanks so much for your help in sending Christina to South Africa to help spread the word of the gospel.

FIFTH SUNDAY OFFERING

JUSTIN GRAMELSPACHER COMING HOME

Justin Gramelspacher has served in Bagdad in May 12, 2007 and will be returning to the states in July. Please do not send any mail to Justin until after he returns to the states and we have a new address. He would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, emails and mail he has received in the past year. It was greatly appreciated.

POTLUCK LUNCH TO WELCOME PASTOR GRETCHEN AND HONOR FATHERS

The Evangelism Committee will sponsor a potluck lunch to welcome Pastor Gretchen and honor our fathers on June 15th after the Sunday service. The committee will provide the meat and drinks. Everyone will be asked to bring a dish that corresponds with your last name. A-H—Desserts I-Q—Salads R-Z—Vegetables We hope to see everyone there!

Vacation Bible School

Kitchen help is needed for the week of June 23-26 for VBS. We serve lunch and two snacks. There are also sign-ups for food donations for the week. Please help make our VBS a success by doing what you can to help out. Our Vacation Bible School has been very successful in the past and this year should not be any different. Our VBS program is really great and the kids love it.

“LUTHER ROAD” DAY CAMP COMES TO REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH A joint Day Camp venture with Lutheran Outdoor Ministries-Indiana/Kentucky is planned for the week of June 22nd. The Day Camp runs Monday through Thursday beginning at 9:00 am for youth entering grades 1st through 6th and ages 3-K (must be potty trained) A donation for the week is only $10.00 per child. WHAT HAPPENS AT DAY CAMP? “POWER LAB: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power!” is the week’s theme. Our morning is a VBS format with music, arts & crafts, recreation and learning Bible stories. After lunch we take on a Camp format with field games, water Olympics and campfire programs. WHERE WILL DAY CAMP HAPPEN? Day Camp will be held each day at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Day Camp will run from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm for 1st -6th grade and 9:00 am to 11:30 am for ages 3 through Kindergarten, Monday through Thursday. The week includes a special Sunday night KICKOFF starting at 6:30 pm, and a PARENT PROGRAM on Thursday evening beginning at 7:00 pm. WHO WILL LEAD DAY CAMP? The “Luther Road” Day Camp teams are led by five college-aged counselors from our Lutheran Outdoor Ministries-Indiana/Kentucky camps--Lutheran Hills, Lutherwald and Lake Luther. They are Christian young adults specially trained and equipped in leading a high energy, fun and exciting Day Camp. This team is led by an experienced camp program director who works with our own VBS Committee who will serve as our Local Coordinator. Volunteers from our church who will share in the leadership include: Jill Hutslar, Cathi Jones, Valerie Kieffner, Mandy Fuhrman, Carrie Vonderheide and Angie Schnarr. WHO CAN COME? All young people entering grades 1st through 6th can sign up. We also will have a Preschool Camp for ages 3 through kindergarten. You do not have to be a member of the congregation – Day Camp is open to everyone—so, invite a friend! To register, fill out the form and enclose a $10.00 donation per camper and return it to the church office by June 1, 2008.

Part-Time Interim Pastor Coming

We will have an interim pastor effective May 31. Her name is Gretchen Enoch. She will be starting on a part time basic. Plans are for her to be here 3 days a week. She will need a place to stay for this time. She is interested in renting an apartment or house (something that isn’t in an apartment complex). If anyone knows of or has contact to something like this let Luther of Angie know. Or you can contact Gretchen directly at Phone Number 773-896-5258 or E-Mail at gretchen@lutheranseminary.org or also at pastorgretchen@psci.net .Also she is looking to borrow furnishing for her apartment. If anyone has any items let her know.
